The art

"My work explores the essence of home and sanctuary, where walls encompass our being. I believe these walls hold immense energy and untold stories, often overlooked and forgotten. I strive to unveil and honor this energy, presenting it for all to see and appreciate.

I draw parallels between our bodies as personal abodes and the walls of physical homes. Like the walls that enclose us, our bodies store memories, experiences, and familial ties. By exposing these internal narratives, I invite viewers to reflect on their own energy and inner workings within their physical shells.

The notion of domain and its influence on our interactions also drives me. When we inhabit our own domain, enchantment unfolds, allowing others to partake in our world. Yet, crossing into another's domain can breed discomfort and discord. I explore the boundaries between what is mine and what is yours, both in physical space and personal energy.

Ultimately, I wish to create an immersive experience that awakens viewers to their own energy and internal stories within their walls. By liberating these narratives, I seek to ignite dialogue and foster a deeper understanding of our shared human experiences—physical, spiritual, and historical—forging connections that transcend walls."

The Material

Most people never see or touch the material I choose to make my work.
I challenge common construction materials to become vulnerable and transform into something for which they were never intended. Lath wire, concrete, joint compound, drywall, glass and roofing paper all find their way into my sculpture. I add color with aerosol, chemical patination, house paint or heat accentuating and introducing  pattern, line and form through digital photography and print. The push and distortion of standard forms, scale and the rules of fabrication to reveal emotion, human energy…
and to begin a conversation
